Each recipient’s local station will receive a $15,000 grant from Sesame Workshop to advance its work in early childhood education.

Early childhood educator Bill Isler received the PBS “Be More” Award for helping to bring characters like Daniel Tiger to life.
Allen Weatherly, former executive director of Arkansas Educational Television Network, was honored posthumously with the Daniel K. Miller PBS Station Leadership Award.
Other winners include “This American Life” and ProPublica.
Public media accounted for five of the 12 winners in the category.
Other award winners include independent producer Jenni Monet, Reveal’s Will Evans and WFAE’s Lisa Worf.
APTS also recognized two executives working within public media.

Also, New Yorker writer Jelani Cobb will receive a Writers Guild award for his contributions to a “Frontline” documentary.
Public TV’s “Frontline” received a duPont for its reporting on Syria and Iraq, including the program “Children of Syria.”
The community media center received a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award in recognition of its Next Gen youth program.
The Gold Award went to “Mariya,” a personal narrative by writer Mariya Karimjee from Radiotopia podcast The Heart.
Bruce Theriault and Michelle Srbinovich received the awards.
