PBS39 adds programming with donation of WYBE license

A segment with actress Maya Rudolph will replace Keillor.
The PBS Board also seated several new members.
CPB President Pat Harrison said the forum “focuses on ways public media stations can enhance their educational content and services for new, diverse generations.”
The financing strategy is used by public broadcasters on large capital projects, such as NPR’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The projects are among 11 receiving support from LPB’s 2017 Public Media Content Fund.
The site’s name, Unum, is taken from the U.S. motto “e pluribus unum” — from many, one.
“Kit has been a transformational leader in public media,” said Julie Adler Raskind, board chair for ideastream.
WVPT’s licensee approved the merger “to strengthen its operational and strategic position moving forward.”
Nancy Zieman had announced her retirement due to health issues in September.
The program is part of a year-long initiative, #InspiringWomanPBS.
The agreement will keep the “zombie license” alive.
The organization was previously the National Black Programming Consortium.
“Public television is still vital to our lives,” Dick Cavett said. “It sounds corny, but I believe it.”
The library announced Friday the acquisition of Cavett’s archives and an online presentation of public television’s historic coverage of the Watergate hearings.
A Black Lives Matter leader said using the games to teach students about slavery was “grossly irresponsible.”

Participants include former PBS host Dick Cavett and Sen. Ed Markey.
A spokesperson for KCSM’s licensee called the complaint “frivolous.”
