The changes include shorter segments, a broader range of topics and more “joy.”
A Current analysis of public radio station schedules found that new NPR programs, such as Sam Sanders’ “It’s Been a Minute,” were popular replacements for “Car Talk.”
The project aims to better serve Minnesota’s large Somali community with translations and BBC audio.
“Labeling PBS a ‘publicly funded broadcaster’ is both vague and misleading,” PBS said in a statement.
“She wanted to be able to be Jacquie Jones, to the end,” one speaker said. “And she was.”
Also, PBS39 in Bethlehem, Pa., has hired two new executives as part of a management restructure.
A session at the NETA conference covered how system leaders are re-examining practices dealing with harassment complaints.
The station wanted to create a classical music service with a price “low enough so that stations could use it to cover less critical dayparts.”
Friends and colleagues remember Jones as an advocate for living up to public media’s ideals for reaching underserved audiences.
“I’ve had tremendous experiences, I’ve worked like a dog, so it’s not like someone just granted these things to me.”
The partnership marks PRX’s first time working with children’s podcasts.
