Matt Golas, managing editor of WHYY’s PlanPhilly website, resigned from his position Thursday, he confirmed in an email.

In the email, Golas wrote, “As I move on to my next assignment, I will be seeking a work atmosphere that appreciates entrepreneurial, nimble and collaborative behavior across the board.” His resignation takes effect Friday, he said.

The station named PlanPhilly editor Ashley Hahn as interim manager of the website, which covers urban planning issues in Philadelphia.

“WHYY is fully committed to the growth of PlanPhilly as part of our family of news gathering and distribution platforms,” said WHYY Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kyra McGrath in a statement.

Golas has worked at PlanPhilly for nine years. His decision comes a week after the station announced the resignation of news chief Chris Satullo. PlanPhilly was acquired by WHYY’s NewsWorks in February.

At the time, Golas told Current he moved to have PlanPhilly join WHYY after six months of talks with Satullo. The two were previously colleagues at the Philadelphia Inquirer.
