Garcia-Navarro recently announced her departure from NPR.
The outlets agreed to a nonbinding deal Wednesday.
The podcast follows months of criticism directed at PBS and public media about the system’s DEI initiatives and lack of transparency.
Daniel Alarcón, host and EP of NPR’s “Radio Ambulante” podcast, was among this year’s recipients.

NPR has exceeded financial expectations in the current fiscal year thanks in part to a “great resurgence” in sponsorship.

“If new donors continue declining overall, that means retention of those donors is going to be more important than ever.”
PBS’ fiscal year 2021 net income was $5.3 million more than previous forecasts, according to CFO and Treasurer Tom Tardivo.
After a long run as a popular guest musician, Kathy Mattea is the second permanent host in the show’s history.

A partnership between American Public Television and PBS will dramatically expand the catalog of programs available for streaming on PBS Passport and the PBS Video app.
The half-hour show, also titled “Flatland,” debuts Thursday with host D. Rashaan Gilmore.
The contract comes after nearly two years of negotiations.
