‘Hidden Brain’ distribution to move from NPR to PRX

Distribution of the radio show Hidden Brain will move from NPR to PRX later this year, PRX announced Tuesday in a press release. 

PRX will take over distribution of the weekly program Oct. 1. 

“I’m delighted that Hidden Brain will join PRX and its portfolio of innovative and beloved programs,” Shankar Vedantam, host and creator of the program, said in the release. “We’re excited to continue to work with the many stations that carry Hidden Brain, and to collaborate with PRX on new ways to serve our listeners and the public media community.”  

Vedantam published his book The Hidden Brain in 2010. He went on to be a science correspondent for NPR, where he appeared on a recurring Morning Edition segment. Hidden Brain became a podcast in 2015 and a radio program in 2017.

In 2020, Vedantam left NPR to produce the show under an independent production company, though the network continued to distribute the program. 

The program airs on more than 400 public radio stations.
