In addition to Maryland Public Television, other stations partnering for the initiative this year are WABE in Atlanta, PBS North Carolina, Louisiana Public Broadcasting, South Carolina ETV and WHUT in Washington, D.C.
The One Small Step projects aims to help participants realize that “no matter what side you are on across the political spectrum, most people are just sane, normal human beings and that our neighbors are not our enemies,” says StoryCorps founder and president Dave Isay.

Stations will pay on a sliding scale for editing assistance from the Public Media Journalists Association.
PBS’ total budget is expected to break even at $372.2 million.
The MacArthur Foundation’s Press Forward campaign will provide an infusion of badly needed cash for local news. But that cash will likely flow to the prepared.
