New York Times to bring Wirecutter podcast to public radio

The New York Times is set to expand its public radio presence with the addition of The Wirecutter Show

American Public Media will distribute the weekly hourlong program to public radio beginning July 9.

The New York Times Company purchased Wirecutter, a website for product recommendations, in 2016. It launched The Wirecutter Show as a podcast in 2024.

The program will adapt the podcast for public radio and “will make trustworthy, practical guidance more accessible to listeners seeking clear, independent advice in their daily lives,” an APM press release said.

“Listeners trust local stations to deliver programming that genuinely serves their lives,” said APM President Chandra Kavati in the release. “This collaboration with The New York Times on The Wirecutter Show brings that promise to life in a new way that is practical, credible, and built for the way people make decisions today.”

The show is co-hosted by EP Rosie Guerin, senior staff writer Caira Blackwell and Christine Cyr Clisset, Wirecutter’s special projects director.

“Bringing this work to public radio with American Public Media allows us to deliver trusted consumer guidance in a format that meets audiences where they are,” said Cliff Levy, Wirecutter’s deputy publisher, in the release. “The show is powered by Wirecutter’s industry-leading newsroom, which has 175 journalists with unparalleled expertise.”

APM began distributing NYT’s The Daily as a 30-minute weekday program in 2018. The program airs on more than 300 public radio stations.
