At the PMBA Conference, KQED Chief Digital Officer Tim Olson discussed plans for a shared digital infrastructure for public media.
NPR, WNYC, WBEZ and This American Life teamed up to make the deal.
The station will hire an on-demand producer, develop podcasts, create content to serve “diverse audiences” and “uncover unique, untold stories.”
The network is aiming for greater audience engagement across NPR and station digital platforms by bringing together Boston and Washington teams.
NPR also aims to improve how the app connects users to local stations.
The “one-touch” functionality aims to make it easier for users to donate to NPR and stations.
Tamar Charney joined NPR early last year to focus on the mobile app’s use of station content.
