A $100,000 grant from Press Forward will help Radio Catskill in New York hire at least one additional reporter.
“‘If you build it, they will come’ isn’t really a strong strategy in an era of competing algorithms and news consumption silos,” said News Director Jenna Dooley.
The Harrisburg-based public media organization will receive several newspapers from Steinman Communications.
The deal with Hulu continues PBS’ efforts to make its programs accessible to people who don’t watch broadcast television.
“I don’t think Oklahomans want to use their tax dollars to indoctrinate kids,” Gov. Kevin Stitt said.
The station in Syracuse, N.Y., has started a stream of programs “about local people, local perspectives and positive stories about the community.”
Dean will retire Friday after 42 years in public radio.
“What this tells us, really, is we’re headed in the right direction,” said NPR CDO Leora Hanser.
New episodes of the popular British series will be available to public TV viewers starting July 1.
The grants were announced Thursday during BPM’s PitchBLACK Awards.
