APMG sells ‘Brains On!’ podcast to co-creators

American Public Media Group has sold its children’s podcast Brains On! to the show’s co-creators.

APMG and co-creators Molly Bloom, Marc Sanchez and Sanden Totten announced the sale in a press release Monday. APMG announced in June that it was planning to sell Brains On! Universe, a collection of kids’ podcasts comprising Brains On!, Forever Ago, Smash Boom Best and Moment of Um

The co-creators now own the feeds, social media, newsletter, books and rights to live shows for the full collection of podcasts, Totten said in an email to Current. The group is setting up a company, Brains On Universe, to manage the shows.

The first episode of Brains On! under new ownership will be released Oct. 21, with new episodes released weekly. Smash Boom Best will resume in November, and Forever Ago will return next year, Totten said.

Totten declined to disclose how much the creators paid for the podcasts.
