On Being, the longtime public radio program, will soon be distributed by WNYC Studios.

The program, which is currently distributed by PRX, will be distributed by WNYC Studios beginning July 1, according to a memo sent to public radio program directors by New York Public Radio CEO Goli Sheikholeslami and PRX CEO Kerri Hoffman.

“We recognize and celebrate the distinct value the program delivers to public media audiences across all its platforms,” Sheikholeslami and Hoffman said in the memo. “NYPR is excited to welcome On Being into its radio distribution portfolio.  PRX and NYPR value our partnership, and our teams are working closely and diligently to assure a seamless transition for stations and listeners.”

With On Being, WNYC Studios’ distribution portfolio will grow to seven programs.

“We’ve been excited by WNYC’s creativity within the public radio and podcasting industries for several years,” a spokesperson for On Being told Current. “Since heading into independent production in 2013, our project has expanded and evolved, and the vision and breadth of WNYC’s portfolio feels like a good fit for what On Being has become.”

PRX has been distributing the show since 2016, when it took it over from American Public Media, where host and executive producer Krista Tippett created the show.

On Being is carried on 347 stations.
