PRX drops PRI from branding

More than a year after PRX and PRI merged, the organization’s name is officially just PRX.

In an email newsletter, PRX CEO Kerri Hoffman said that whereas previous communications had featured both brands, moving forward the organization will use the PRX brand.

The change “reflects a unanimous decision by our board of directors to move forward as a fully integrated organization under a single name,” Hoffman said in the email.

“After extensive review, we agreed that both PRX and PRI are powerful, admired brands, but that PRX may best reflect the changing nature of media and, in particular, the continued shift to on-demand content,” Hoffman wrote. “That said, the qualities that PRI has stood for — the highest quality journalism, global perspectives and new voices — will remain absolutely central to who we are and what we strive to deliver to our many listeners.”

PRX also announced recently that it is ending Studio 360 after nearly two decades.
