A proposal to eliminate the governing board that oversees educational public television programs in Arkansas is not likely to advance further in the legislature.
St. Louis Public Radio, KCUR and Classical KC will be governed by independent nonprofits.
Supporters said the cut would undermine public safety, government transparency, education, high school activities and local storytelling.
An analysis of station financial data suggests disproportionate effects could be felt across radio and TV stations, as well as smaller and larger markets.
