Facets: Voices of the Mountain Life

“Facets: Voices of the Mountain Life” is a five-episode podcast series created by KHOL/Jackson Hole Community Radio and the Jackson-based outdoor gear brand Stio that explores the passions, tensions and healing people find while living in a mountain town. The series focuses on historically marginalized and undercovered communities, including immigrants, women and youth caught up in Wyoming’s harsh juvenile justice system. In short, it elevates voices “people don’t get to hear,” according to one interviewee.

With more than 2,400 podcast downloads and a reach of nearly 13,000 people on Facebook, Facets set a new standard for the journalistic impact of KHOL, a small community radio station. The series sparked meaningful community dialogue among leading Jackson nonprofits, Grand Teton National Park and the general public. Select episodes also reached a larger regional audience through rebroadcasts on KHOL’s partner stations in the Rocky Mountain Community Radio collaborative.
