Christine Dempsey was hired as CCO for WSKG in Binghamton, N.Y.
Dempsey most recently worked as VP of radio for WLVR in Lehigh Valley, Pa. She has also been VP of radio for WABE in Atlanta and held several leadership roles at WHYY in Philadelphia, including CCO, director of radio programming and senior producer.
“Christine has demonstrated a career-long commitment to serving the community through public media,” said WSKG CEO Natasha Thompson in a news release. “We are thrilled to welcome her to WSKG and look forward to seeing what she will bring to this important role.”
Maryland Public Television promoted Harry Vaughn to VP of production and facility services.
Vaughn joined MPT in 1982 as an intern for The Critics’ Place and was hired as a production assistant the following year for A.M. Weather. He has also been a videographer, editor, production supervisor, production manager, managing director and senior managing director of production services.
Vaughn starts the role this month. His promotion is part of a restructuring that follows SVP and CTO George Beneman’s announcement that he will retire next year. MPT plans to hire a senior executive to oversee engineering and technology services.
Hawaii Public Radio announced two promotions.
Russell Subiono was named director of programming and content development. Subiono most recently worked as EP of The Conversation, a weekday public affairs program. He is also host and co-producer of This Is Our Hawaiʻi, a podcast. He started working for the station in 2016 as a production assistant and was also a fund drive producer.
Maddie Bender steps in as EP of The Conversation. Bender joined the station last year as producer for The Conversation and has also helped produce This Is Our Hawai‘i. Before joining Hawaii Public Radio, she was an innovation reporter for the Daily Beast and a fact-checker for The Future of Everything, produced by The Wall Street Journal.

Ted Grossman, host of Night Train for WLRN in Miami, retired last month. Grossman has hosted the weekly jazz and blues program since its inception in 1977. Before hosting the show, he served in the Air Force as an air defense radar operator and was also an announcer for the Miami Seaquarium. Until 2009, he simultaneously worked for WLRN and the U.S. Postal Service. “The postal uniform paid the bills, while WLRN paid my ego,” he said in his retirement announcement.
Caroline MacGregor was hired as All Things Considered host for WEMU in Ypsilanti, Mich. MacGregor most recently worked as assistant news director for West Virginia Public Broadcasting. She’s also been a host and reporter for Interlochen Public Radio and WGVU in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Robin Lambert was hired as a morning host for WFDD in Winston-Salem, N.C. Lambert most recently worked as assistant manager of WGHP, a Fox affiliate in High Point, N.C. She has also worked for commercial radio and television stations in Raleigh and Charlotte. As part of the change, Neal Charnoff will transition to hosting All Things Considered.
Anna Staver left her position as host and EP of All Sides for WOSU in Columbus, Ohio, to become a journalist covering the Ohio statehouse for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland starting this month. Staver joined WOSU last year after working as a reporter for USA Today, the Denver Post and the Idaho Press.
