A $359,600 grant from CPB will allow 30 public media stations to use PRX’s digital podcast platform Dovetail for free.
Dovetail helps stations distribute audio content through on-demand podcast platforms, a news release announcing the grant said.
It also provides real-time audience data, manages dynamic ad delivery and helps identify underwriting and fundraising opportunities, the release said. The grant-funded pilot will allow stations to see how Dovetail affects audience engagement and revenue.
Dovetail is currently used by nearly 35 public media stations and supports more than 150 podcasts, according to a PRX spokesperson. Independent organizations and producers also use the platform.
PBS and stations including GBH, KERA, WUNC, WAMU and WWNO already use Dovetail, the CPB release said.
“Public media needs its own shared platforms and services to ensure universal and equitable access, efficient operation, innovation, and collaboration,” PRX CEO Kerri Hoffman said in the release. “Dovetail from PRX is infrastructure that can connect these dots.”
