Kevin Crane named station manager of WHQR Public Media

Public media veteran Kevin Crane was named station manager of WHQR Public Media in Wilmington, N.C., its licensee announced Wednesday.

Crane will take over in the role July 18. He succeeds Kurt Wilson, who stepped down in February. Crane will be the station’s fourth station manager since 2017. 

He was most recently president and CEO of Nashville Public Television before resigning in 2020. Before that, Crane spent 17 years as VP of content and technology at NPT. 

Crane has worked in public media for 34 years, including as program manager at WGBY in Springfield, Mass. 

“Thank you to all those who helped our exhaustive Station Manager search over the past few months,” said Jon McLamb, board chair of station licensee Friends of Public Radio, in a press release. “We are excited to welcome Kevin to our community and look forward to his leadership at WHQR!”
