Pacifica’s KPFK in Los Angeles announced Miquel Calçada as its new GM.
“KPFK radio has great talent and enormous potential and I look forward to working in collaboration with all members to tackle current challenges,” Calçada said on the station’s website.
KOPN in Columbia, Mo. hired Calçada as GM in January.
“Since relocating to the US three years ago, I have been fascinated by the public media model here, particularly by the community radio paradigm,” Calçada said at the time in a press release. “Its whole raison d’être is to serve the local community, in multiple ways.”
A native of Catalonia, Spain, Calçada has more than 30 years of experience in broadcasting. He has hosted television shows and established and sold two commercial radio stations.
