A union representing staffers at WBUR in Boston has conditionally dropped an April 30 complaint it had filed with the National Labor Relations Board in which it said that management was refusing to bargain.

A large majority of eligible news, digital and production staffers at WBUR voted in February to be represented by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Employees said in a petition to management that they were seeking to unionize in part because they wanted “transparency and equity in compensation” and a “more diverse and inclusive workplace.”

The union’s April complaint, obtained by Current through a FOIA request, said that WBUR management had “refused to identify dates to meet and bargain with SAG-AFTRA” since around March 25. The complaint also claimed that WBUR management had said that they would not be able to meet before August and had “refused to provide requested information crucial to collective bargaining.”

Management has now promised the requested information by Wednesday, according to SAG-AFTRA spokesperson Mitzye Ramos. Union representatives and management will meet for their first bargaining session June 10, Ramos said.

“The University and the Union continue to work collaboratively to resolve outstanding issues,” said a spokesperson for Boston University, which holds WBUR’s license.
