Teich heads to NCPR from Milwaukee Public Radio, where he has served since 2006 as EP and co-host of Lake Effect, a weekday newsmagazine. He was also news director of Arizona Public Radio in Flagstaff and reported and produced for Minnesota Public Radio. From 1996–98 he reported for NCPR.

“The two years I spent at North Country Public Radio included the most important, formative experiences of my radio career,” Teich said in NCPR’s release.  “They showed me the profound effect a radio station can have on the community it serves. I could not be more honored or humbled by the opportunity to lead a station that is so important to so many people.”

“Mitch understands the important role that NCPR plays in our region and throughout our community,” said William L. Fox, president of St. Lawrence University, which holds NCPR’s license. “His passion for public radio was evident throughout the search process and we look forward to welcoming him back to the North Country.”

Teich will succeed Ellen Rocco, who has led the station since 1985. Rocco announced her retirement in January.
