WMHT in Troy, N.Y., is expanding its Triple A–format WEXT Radio through a signal acquisition.

WMHT bought 106.1 FM in Albany, N.Y., for $275,000 from Empire Broadcasting Corp., according to a Sept. 7 asset purchase agreement. The station, which had previously aired a Top 40 format, has been silent since May for financial reasons, according to FCC records.

WMHT will air WEXT’s Triple A format on the new signal. WEXT also broadcasts on 97.7 FM in Amsterdam, N.Y.

The acquisition will help improve WEXT’s coverage in Albany, Troy and other areas, according to a press release.
