Local that Works Contest 2022

Local that Works Entry Form

Grand Prize: $20,000!

Welcome to the sixth annual Local that Works contest! Local that Works spotlights original initiatives that demonstrate the power of local media to inform, engage, educate, inspire, convene, and transform communities. We are particularly interested in innovative cross-platform projects that expand and diversify audiences, especially projects that can be replicated or scaled by small and mid-size media organizations elsewhere.

We designed our entry process so that it will be easy for you to participate. Submit your project using the form below. But first, here’s what you need to know:

  • The 2022 deadline has passed; we are no longer accepting entries.
  • You may submit multiple entries, but you must do so on separate forms. Choose carefully.
  • After entering the first link to your main project webpage, you’ll be able to post up to five additional links for judges to see. Have those links ready before you start your submission.
  • All entries require an image or video upload. For that video upload, we can only accept a link to YouTube and Vimeo, not a link to a page on your website or social media featuring video.
  • Your entry will not be saved until you hit submit and you cannot revise your entry after you submit. We suggest you write and edit a kick-ass entry in a Word document, then paste your answers into the entry form.
  • Please have patience for your entry to go through. You will get a confirmation message on your screen. You will not receive a confirmation email.
  • Entries will be published in the LTW database at Current.org. Please write your narratives with that in mind. We reserve the right to edit any fields for publicly displayed listings.
  • By entering this contest you agree that if you are a finalist, you will present your project at the Local that Works Grand Finale, an online session in November. All finalists will receive stipends and editorial support to produce short videos about their projects that will be shown at the Grand Finale.
  • For tips and inspiration, watch our webinar from 2020 on “How to Make Your LTW Entry Pop!” You can also watch the recording of the 2021 Local that Works Grand Finale.
  • Read our FAQ. Contact [email protected] with additional questions. Put “LTW Contest Question” in the subject line.
  • Start entering your work below. Good luck!

Local that Works is funded by the Wyncote Foundation.
