‘This Old House’ comes to public radio

Public radio stations will soon have the option of updating their schedules with a public TV staple.

This Old House Radio Hour, an hourlong weekend program hosted by This Old House editor Jenn Largesse, will be available March 22. It will be distributed by American Public Media.

Episodes will blend “practical advice with rich storytelling,” according to an APM Distribution post.

The program is co-produced by LAist Studios, This Old House Productions and Ember20. LAist will also carry the program.

“Southern California is home to every type of dwelling and architecture, and the LAist audience has consistently identified housing issues as a top interest,” said Shana Naomi Krochmal, VP of LAist Studios. “That was true for Angelenos even before the recent wildfires, and as so many in our community begin the long and difficult process to rebuild and resettle, we hope this show can be a familiar and helpful companion.”

The program will also be available as a podcast, with the first episode available on-demand March 25, according to a This Old House post

Ember20’s Jimmy Jellinek created the program and will be EP, along with David Thwaites and Chris Wolfe. The program’s producers are Matt Bogart and Michelle Lanz. Jeremiah Zimmerman is the program’s editor and sound designer, according to the release.

“For decades, This Old House has been the most trusted and most authentic source of home improvement information on television,” Wolfe said in the release. “Now, we’re excited to share the expertise and insights of our team with radio listeners as well.”

The Home Depot is the program’s presenting sponsor.
