Sam Sanders is returning to public radio’s national airwaves with his new KCRW show on media and entertainment.

PRX will distribute The Sam Sanders Show, which premiered in October on the station in Santa Monica, Calif. The weekly show is now available to stations across the country. PRX announced the distribution partnership on Thursday.

“We’ve been cooking up something really fun here in L.A., pushing the boundaries of how radio can sound and feel,” Sanders said in a news release. “Sharing what we’re making with other stations is an exciting next step in our growth, and I’m honored to partner with PRX to make it all happen.”

The Sam Sanders Show has featured guests such as actress Jessica Williams and comedian Roy Wood Jr.

Sanders is the founding host of NPR’s It’s Been a Minute. While having pizza and beer with friends during the 2016 election, he came up with the idea for a show that combined serious news coverage, a casual tone and diverse guests. Sanders left NPR in 2022 and then created Into It for Vulture.

“Public radio loves Sam Sanders,” said Stephanie Kuo, VP of Content at PRX, in the release. “It’s a privilege for PRX to be a part of bringing a beloved host ‘back home’ to the larger public media system.”

“There’s never been a more pivotal time to bring joy, levity, and fresh voices to the radio. Sam is essential to the national conversation and to public media’s future.”

PRX also distributes KCRW’s political discussion show Left, Right & Center.
