The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation voted to report favorably on two CPB board nominees Thursday.
President Joe Biden nominated Felix Sanchez last year to fill a vacancy on the nine-member board. Adam White is one of two nominees announced last month as three board members completed their terms.
Ranking Member Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) moved to favorably report a list of nominees, which also included appointments to other posts such as the Amtrak Board of Directors.
The motion was approved by voice vote with no debate.
Sanchez, a former Democratic campaign strategist, chairs the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts. He previously served as a legislative assistant to the late Sen. Lloyd Bentsen of Texas.
White, a Republican, is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. He was previously appointed by President Biden to the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Carol Kellermann, a New York–based executive with experience in nonprofit leadership, was also nominated by the White House last month. Her nomination was not taken up during the committee’s business meeting.
Kellermann has been president of the Citizens Budget Commission, an independent watchdog that makes recommendations to New York City and New York State governments. In the early 1990s she was chief of staff to then-Rep. Chuck Schumer.
CPB’s departing directors include former Chair Bruce Ramer, Miriam Hellreich and Kathy Im.
