Marlon P. Kiser, president and CEO of WGTE Public Media in Toledo, Ohio, plans to retire March 28.
Kiser is WGTE’s fourth and its longest serving chief executive.
“These past 25 years at WGTE Public Media have been the highlight of my career — a true honor,” Kiser said in a news release announcing his retirement. “…I’m thankful for the strong foundation around me during my tenure, helping to provide content and services to our region and proving the importance of public media to the communities that we serve.”
Kiser joined WGTE in 1999 as COO and radio station manager. He was named president and CEO in 2002. During his tenure, WGTE led collaborations with the state government to help provide professional development courses for teachers and created Voices Around Us, a community-focused podcasting initiative. WGTE also participates in the Ohio Newsroom, a statewide news collaborative funded in part by CPB.
WGTE plans to hire a recruitment firm to manage a national search for Kiser’s successor.
