Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a DJ at KKFI in Kansas City, Mo., was shot and killed Wednesday in a mass shooting that occurred at the end of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally.
She was one of 22 people shot and died at the hospital from a wound to her abdomen, the Kansas City Star reported.
“This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community,” the station posted on its Facebook page.
Lopez-Galvan was in her mid-40s and was a “bright, energetic person,” Kelly Dougherty, the station’s director of development and communications, told Current in an email.
Lopez-Galvan began co-hosting Taste of Tejano, a music program featuring “the best Tejano music north of Texas,” in 2022.
“She treated everyone she knew and loved as close family,” her co-host Tommy Andrade told the Washington Post.
Lopez-Galvan’s bio on KKFI’s website says, “For Lisa music is life and a source of happiness.”
The station said on its website that a GoFundMe campaign and details about a funeral service are forthcoming.
