Radio Bilingüe Executive Director Hugo Morales will soon have a new role with the organization.
The organization in Fresno, Calif., is “reshaping” his role, according to an email sent Wednesday to Radio Bilingüe supporters. It plans to hire a co-executive director. When that role is filled, Morales’ title will change to co-executive director.
Over the next year, Morales “will transition out of the day-to-day management of RB while mentoring the organization’s new leadership,” the email said.
“Over time, the new Co-Executive Director will assume increasing responsibility for the strategic direction and success of the organization,” according to the email. “When the transition is complete, Hugo will continue to stay involved in RB in a fundraising capacity.”
Morales founded Radio Bilingüe in 1976. The network runs 13 noncommercial FM stations and produces the Spanish-language programs Noticiero Latino and Línea Abierta. Earlier this year, Morales received an honorary doctorate from Harvard University.
