Tom Godell is ending his tenure as GM of WUKY in Lexington, Ky.
Godell will retire Sept. 15 after leading the station for nearly 20 years.
Prior to leading WUKY, he held leadership roles throughout public media, including PD of WLRH in Huntsville, Ala.; associate director of broadcasting for WSIU in Carbondale, Ill.; and senior producer at WBHM in Birmingham, Ala. He has worked in public broadcasting since 1976.
“It’s been a real honor to be part of this institution and to have such a great staff,” Godell said. “The people I work with are amazing, and they do fantastic radio every day. … I’m proud of what they’ve been able to accomplish, and I know this is going to be a great place.”
