Daphne Kwon will take over as NPR’s CFO, the network announced Thursday.
She replaces Deborah Cowan, who announced her departure earlier this year.
“Daphne is an experienced media industry professional and has a very creative and strategic approach to financial leadership,” NPR CEO John Lansing said in a press release. “She is exactly the kind of leader we need to guide us at this time.”
Kwon most recently worked for Flipside Crypto, where she led its DAO initiatives, and has previously worked as chief strategy officer for Meredith and CFO for Oxygen Media, Goop and others.
“My entire media career has drawn me to this opportunity at NPR. Journalism has never been more important,” Kwon said in the release. “And the place that NPR and its Member stations occupy in the fabric of public broadcasting is unique and necessary. I am honored to be a part of this team and look forward to contributing to NPR’s growth and impact.”
