Content staffers at WFAE in Charlotte, N.C., formed a union Thursday following voluntary recognition by management, organizers announced.
The recognition follows a card check Thursday to verify that more than 70% of the content employees signed union authorization cards.
“We are looking forward to working with WFAE management to build a fair contract,” the union staff said on Twitter. “As @wemakeWFAE, we will have a seat at the table and the ability to help shape the future of WFAE for the better.”
The content staff announced their intention last month to unionize with the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
The union organizing committee said in a petition to management that their concerns include staff turnover and transparency from management.
