StoryCorps appointed Mary Beth Smith to CMO and promoted Lisa Kennedy to CDO, the nonprofit said Monday.
“Lisa is an accomplished professional and she has distinguished herself at StoryCorps with her skilled stewardship of our development efforts,” StoryCorps President Dave Isay said in a press release. “Mary Beth’s proven track record in building audiences, heightening brand awareness, and driving revenue makes her a great addition to our team. I have no doubt that Lisa and Mary Beth’s collective leadership and extensive experience will help propel StoryCorps forward as we expand our important work in the years ahead.”
Smith previously served in similar positions at the Oakland Museum of California and the San Francisco Ballet. In her role with StoryCorps, she will lead marketing and branding strategy and oversee “audience expansion, content distribution, revenue growth, and customer service initiatives, with an emphasis on growing national awareness of StoryCorps’ work and content,” according to the release.
Kennedy was promoted from managing director of development and principal gifts. In her new role she will “provide strategy and oversight for all fundraising efforts,” the release said.
