Blessman succeeds Kim Johnson, who retired this summer, and Kim Carver, vice chair of the station’s board, who stepped in to lead the station.

Blessman’s first day with PBS12 is Oct. 18.

“Kristen Blessman, like PBS12, is a dynamic and charismatic leader with a unique voice who fosters deep community engagement in Colorado,” said Board Chair Micah Schwalb in a news release. “She is the right leader for the times, for this station, and for this team. I look forward to seeing where she will take PBS12 from here.”

Blessman currently works as CEO of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She has also been chief marketing and development officer for Goodwill Industries in Denver and associate director of media relations for Regis University.

“I couldn’t be more honored and excited to join the PBS12 team,” Blessman said in a news release. “There is no more important time than now for public television to play a critical role in bringing our communities together. I’m so incredibly proud to be a part of it.”
