David Baes was hired as executive director at Northern Community Radio in northern Minnesota, the NPR affiliate announced Tuesday.
The organization operates KAXE in Grand Rapids and KBXE in Bemidji.
Baes has had a 35-year career in radio and public media, most recently serving as GM at Pacifica station KPFT in Houston.
At KAXE, Baes replaces longtime GM Maggie Montgomery, who retired. Baes and Montgomery were able to work together to “cement the institutional knowledge and history” of the organization, according to a press release.
“David is a friendly, confident person with new ideas for Northern Community Radio,” Montgomery said in the release. “He comes into an organization with huge assets that will help him be successful: KAXE and KBXE have talented, competent staffs.”
