Janetta Stringfellow, a fundraiser for educational institutions who began her career as a producer, joined PRX as chief development officer, effective Monday.
Stringfellow most recently served as the director of institutional advancement at the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University. She has also directed development at Boston’s Commonwealth School.
She succeeds Colin Hamilton, who is departing Dec. 31 to run Hamilton & Associates, a nonprofit consulting firm he founded last year, according to a spokesperson. Hamilton became chief development officer at PRI in 2017 and then took the role for both organizations following their 2018 merger.
Before she began working in development, Stringfellow was a producer for National Geographic and VH1. One of her first jobs was as an intern for WNET in New York City.
“I’m thrilled for this opportunity to return to my roots in media and to join a mission-driven organization at the forefront of audio and technology,” Stringfellow said in a news release. “PRX programming is multifaceted, creative, and highly meaningful. I can’t wait to get started with this great team.”
“Janetta’s track record of building and fostering support for public-oriented institutions is inspiring. As we continue to expand the PRX community, we’re thrilled for Janetta to join us,” said Kerri Hoffman, CEO of PRX. “And, on behalf of PRX, we offer deep gratitude to Colin. Colin is an outstanding colleague and a true champion of public media and our work.”
