The Public Radio Program Directors Association named Jody Evans as its new president and c.e.o. Monday.
Evans will step into the position Jan. 1. She is currently c.e.o of Western North Carolina Public Radio Inc., the community licensee of WCQS-FM in Asheville, N.C. She joined WCQS as c.e.o. in 2010.
Prior to joining WCQS, Evans was p.d. at Vermont Public Radio and at KUT in Austin, Texas. She also served on PRPD’s board of directors from 2005-09.
“We are excited that Jody will bring her passion for mission-driven content, forward thinking ideas about our industry, and her inspirational leadership abilities to PRPD,” Tamar Charney, chair of the PRPD board and p.d. of Michigan Radio in Ann Arbor, said in a statement. “She is driven by her love of our industry and her excitement about the strong future that is possible for public media.”
Evans replaces retiring president Arthur Cohen, who headed PRPD for eight years.
