In the Loop, a new half-hour weekly public affairs show from WYCC-TV in Chicago, will feature a regular segment produced by Curious City, WBEZ’s online news-gathering project, the program’s producers announced Monday.
Created by Jennifer Brandel, Curious City began life as one of 10 new locally focused public radio projects funded by the Association of Independents in Radio’s Localore initiative. The program solicits questions about Chicago from listeners to investigate on-air. In November 2012, WBEZ President Torey Malatia told Current the network planned to continue the program — “everything, including the brand” — at the culmination of the initial Localore funding period. Localore’s first year of funding for its projects ends in March.
