Strike a Chord is a public service awareness campaign designed to draw attention to vital community-related issues in the New York metropolitan area. Each quarter, WFUV explores subjects ranging from veterans returning home to the healing power of the arts to coping with loss. We explore these issues with on-air public service announcements, news features, community events, and public affairs programming. We have also partnered with BronxNet Television, a public, educational, and government access (PEG) cable tv network in the Bronx to host televised panel discussions on the featured topic. This allows us to reach new and more diverse audiences. Coverage also comes through the WFUV Newsroom’s e-newsletter, public forums and social media, giving the general public a chance to contribute to the dialogue. Strike a Chord was developed in conjunction with WFUV’s Community Advisory Board.
