CPB receives almost $1 million in refund from Treasury

The U.S. Treasury has reimbursed CPB nearly $1 million that Congress had trimmed from this year’s budget.

CPB had been operating under a continuing resolution that sliced 0.2 percent from all government spending. The fiscal 2016 omnibus bill reinstated CPB’s full appropriation of $445 million. CPB requested the Treasury restore the funds that had been cut.

At a meeting at CPB headquarters Monday, corporation President Pat Harrison told the board’s audit and finance committee that the Treasury refunded the corporation about $939,000 last week.

Harrison added that because FY16 is nearly over, the money will carry over into FY17 and be distributed based on statutory allocations.
