Christy Tanner immediately takes the helm of NYPR, which includes WNYC, WQXR, WNYC Studios, Gothamist, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space and New Jersey Public Radio, according to a news release.

She replaces LaFontaine Oliver, who announced in July that he would step down as CEO to take on an executive chair role.
“As a longtime fan of NYPR’s magnificent work, I’m honored to join this powerhouse organization with local heart and global impact,” Tanner said in the release. “I’m looking forward to serving New Yorkers and audiences everywhere in partnership with the trusted, world-class team who set the standards for audio and multiplatform excellence.”
As CEO of TV Guide Digital, Tanner led its sale to CBS Interactive in 2013, according to the release.
She then became executive VP and GM of CBS News Digital in 2015, according to her LinkedIn page. CBS News Digital reached 1 billion streams in 2020, the release said.
“Christy is the leader NYPR needs at this moment,” said NYPR Board of Trustees Chair John Rose in the release. “… During an extraordinary career, she has distinguished herself as a pacesetter for media organizations that have successfully adapted, innovated, and grown while delivering award-winning public service.”
