Rick Westover was promoted to GM of WCMU Public Media in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Westover, a radio director who has served two separate stints as interim GM, succeeds Debbie Hamlett, who left last year to become VP and GM of Milwaukee PBS.
Westover first joined WCMU in 1999 when he was a student at its licensee, Central Michigan University. In 2004 he became host of All Things Considered and later became a classical music and indie music host. In 2019 he became radio director.
“Rick Westover has long been a valuable member of WCMU. His strong connection with the current WCMU team and our community is unmatched,” said Toby Roth, associate VP of government and external relations for Central Michigan University, in a news release. “I look forward to working with him to implement his vision for WCMU Public Media.”
“I look forward to building on the station’s strong foundation and exploring new opportunities to connect with our audience,” Westover said in the news release.
