Michigan Radio in Ann Arbor announced Tuesday that it has hired Wendy Turner as its next leader.
Turner, who is currently on the executive team for Ideastream in Cleveland and is GM of Ohio Public Media Services, will take over as Michigan Radio’s executive director and GM Jan. 2, 2024.
“I am truly honored to join the staff of Michigan Radio,” Turner said in a press release. “Michigan Radio has an extraordinary legacy of courageous reporting, commitment to community, and spearheading innovation. I am eager to help support and accelerate these efforts.”
Turner will succeed Stephen Schram, who retired last year.
Turner was executive director and GM of WKSU in Kent, Ohio, for five years before the station consolidated with Ideastream in 2021.
“Wendy brings the enthusiasm, experience and vision to lead this extraordinary team to bold new successes.” said Richie Hunter, VP for communications at the University of Michigan, Michigan Radio’s licensee.
