Your Public Radio in Baltimore announced Monday the appointment of Craig Swagler as its next president and GM.
Swagler, a veteran of CBS Radio, replaces LaFontaine Oliver, who left earlier this year to lead New York Public Radio. Swagler begins in the role Aug. 1.
Your Public Radio runs news station WYPR and Triple A music station WTMD.
“His extensive experience in the broadcast industry, coupled with his innovative mindset and community-building approach, will be invaluable as we continue to provide exceptional programming and expand our reach,” said Lisa Manzone, Your Public Radio board chair, in a press release. “We are confident that Craig’s leadership will lead Your Public Radio to even greater heights.”
Swagler most recently worked as VP and GM for CBS Audio/CBS Radio and has worked at CBS News in a variety of roles for more than a decade. He is a board member of the Radio Television Digital News Association.
“It is an honor to serve Baltimore by amplifying issues, stories and events of the community’s rich cultural heritage,” Swagler said in the release. “WYPR and WTMD are the soundtracks of Baltimoreans, providing immediate local affect, keeping them informed and making an impact on their lives. I look forward to working together to expand the influence and reach of Your Public Radio as an essential part of Marylander lives.”
