Dante Betteo retires as KCSM station manager

Station Manager Dante Betteo retired Dec. 30 from KCSM in San Mateo, Calif., the station confirmed.

“The onetime Spanish-language news anchor, acclaimed film maker, and longtime KCSM television executive producer, leaves a successful track record that has led to many positive changes here at JAZZ 91,” KCSM Music Director Jesse “Chuy” Varela wrote in a station newsletter announcing Betteo’s retirement. 

Betteo had led the radio station for nine years. He was KCSM’s PD before becoming station manager. He also spent nearly 10 years as EP at KCSM-TV. 

During his career, he has also written and produced numerous documentaries and feature films. 

KCSM, which is licensed to the San Mateo County Community College District, serves the San Francisco Bay Area with a 24-hour jazz format.
