Pope most recently worked as head of school for Children’s Kiva Montessori Charter School in Cortez, Colo. He has also been executive director for KSJD in Cortez and interim COO for Aspen Public Radio.

“I’m thrilled to be asked to lead Blue Ridge Public Radio at a time when Western North Carolina needs the station more than ever to be a trusted source for journalism, a resource for the arts and culture, and an institution that pulls the region together,” Pope said in the news release. “My family and I can’t wait to explore all that Western North Carolina has to offer and become part of the community.”

BPR’s board of directors hired Andrew Todd, a nonprofit leadership consultant, to lead BPR until Pope starts the job in July.
