Jim Rademaker was named GM of WCMU Public Media in Mount Pleasant, Mich., which is licensed to Central Michigan University.
Rademaker was named interim GM in May 2019 after Ken Kolbe left the station to become GM of WGVU Public Media in Grand Rapids, Mich.
“Congratulations to Jim Rademaker as he sheds ‘Interim’ from his role as General Manager for WCMU Public Media,” said Director of Radio Rick Westover in a news release. “He’s always had our listeners and viewers in mind as we plan for the future. We’re looking at long-term goals now and how best to support the communities we serve. This marks an exciting stage of growth and renewal for WCMU.”
Rademaker joined the station in 2015 and has held several roles, including director of development and community engagement and assistant GM of development and community engagement.
Rademaker’s first job in public media was with WGVU as a volunteer and later as a full-time employee in underwriting sales. He also worked as the fundraising coordinator and the assistant development manager for the station.
“I’m excited to be a part of and lead the WCMU team,” said Rademaker in the release. “There is so much energy here aimed at transforming what public TV and radio have been, into something that will be able to make an even more significant impact on the community.”
