Programmer Jon Hoban has been named GM of public radio stations KJZZ and KBAQ in Phoenix.
He began in the position Monday. The stations are licensed to the Maricopa County Community College District.
Hoban has been with the station since 2012 as associate GM of programming. He was previously VP of radio at Georgia Public Broadcasting and has served in other leadership positions at WHYY in Philadelphia, Louisville Public Media and Michigan Radio.
He has also served on the boards of the Public Radio Program Directors Association and Public Radio News Directors Inc., among others.
In a statement, Hoban called it an “honor” to take over leadership of KJZZ and KBAQ. “The talent and perseverance of our entire staff is inspiring,” he said. “We are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence in public radio and serving our community.”
Hoban replaces James Paluzzi, who retired last summer following an investigation of allegations that he had made inappropriate sexual advances toward employees.
