Parent Engagement App Hackathon

The Parent Engagement App Hackathon was a year in development. Over that time, we embraced the iterative process, which meant committing ourselves to taking risks, not being afraid of failure, and learning as much from what worked as from what didn’t work. With each iteration of the hackathon concept, we learned something new, things that we are applying to ourselves at WGBH as well as things we are sharing with our public media colleagues across the country. The learning ranged from more effective strategies for parent recruitment to rethinking terminology to  improving our understanding staff capacity-building needs and opportunities in order to fully adopt an iterative process for our development.
