NorCal Community Voices

NorCal wanted to fulfill a desire by communities throughout the Bay Area to see and hear themselves reflected in broadcast media and locally-produced content on digital platforms. Our initiative creates a variety of pathways to bring those voices forward.

We have created a variety of radio products for our Sonoma County radio station KRCB 104.9 FM. Postcards from Sonoma is a radio content stream where we invite local organizations and local governments to record weekly message via an online portal. Our producers then evaluate and finalize before putting on air and online. Savoring Sonoma is series of radio shorts about the vibrant food scene in Sonoma County. ARTbeat explores art shows and festivals on the radio. FarmTrails gives agricultural workers a voice on the radio. On Bay Area television (KRCB PBS and KPJK TV), our Connect the Bay short series airs during breaks throughout the schedule on both channels. Connect the Bay brings the stories of artists, activists, and great thinkers forward – in their own words. CritterCam is a series of shorts utilizing the nature photography of local photographers and environmental organizations that they donate to NorCal in order to help educate young people about Bay Area wildlife. WaterWise is an educational series of TV and radio messages about drought and conservation.

Together, these message and content streams enable the community to express their thoughts, showcase their creativity, and share solutions.
